The Lighthouse of Alexandria

This is the last of the Ancient wonders of the World connected with the name of Alexander the Great. Alexandria was founded in 332 BC and was situated near Nile. This was one of the greatest cities during the epoch of Alexander reining. This city was built according to the unique and the only plan. This was the place of muses home and the centre of arts and science.
The Lighthouse was the lighthouse and the fortress at the same time. It was possible to see the whole city being at the top of the Lighthouse as well as to notice the enemy long before it approached the city. And the tower of the lighthouse had a great number of technical and astronomic machines and equipment as well as clock to determine all possible measures.
Strat Ptolemee was so fascinated by the Lighthouse that he made the note on it indicating his name and that he dedicated this Lighthouse for sailors in the name of gods. And he covered this note with plaster. And he didn't want to live till days when the plaster would crumble and the ruler would get to know about his deed.
The Roman travellers saw the note of Strat. At that time the Lighthouse still worked. But with the collapse of the Great Roman Empire it stopped giving light and the tower fell down as it was rather ancient and old. But the walls of the low part were standing for a long time until the earthquake ruined them in 14th century. The ruins of the ancient Lighthouse were built into the Turkish fortress and exist in it till nowadays.
The Reconstructions of the Lighthouse are similar to the skyscraper Empire State Building.
